homegrown nys grown and certified

Fresh, local, delicious, and sustainable – best way to get to a dietitian’s heart! And yours – parents, Millennials, Foodies, Boomers, kids – we all love produce, and we all want to learn more about where it comes from and who is growing it for us. We make those local farm and producer connections throughout the store with our home.grown. program, and this week Price Chopper and Market 32 are showcasing some of New York’s best produce in select stores around the state, highlighting farmers that qualify for the New York State Grown and Certified program. Launched last year by Governor Cuomo, the certification showcases farmers that meet specific sustainability and food safety standards. I love how interested everyone is today in local, fresh food – the New York Grown and Certified program highlights good agricultural practices and environmental stewardship, and helps residents learn more about why New York produce is so good.  https://certified.ny.gov/

New York farmers are already the cream of the crop – a collaborative community that shares information and sound science to protect land and water resources while growing more than 30 types of produce. As one of the oldest food retailers in the country, we also have deep roots in this community – Price Chopper has been working with farms throughout New York since 1932. Multiple generations of family farmers and Price Chopper produce teams have been bringing the best of the best in New York to your table for a long time. That is the home.grown. connection – a homegrown company working with many of the farms that make New York so agriculturally rich.

Confidence is an important ingredient in any recipe – particularly confidence in the quality and freshness of the foods you bring home to your family. Stop by and sample some delicious lettuce from A. Gurda Produce, piquant tomatoes from Intergrow Greenhouses, and crunchy cucumbers from Black Horse Farms (with some yummy PICS salad dressings!) – just a few of the farms that will be featured at our New York State Grown and Certified event! Enjoy!
