Financial donations designated for the coronavirus outbreak will help the American Red Cross continue to deliver its lifesaving mission nationwide, including:
- • Maintaining a sufficient supply of blood to help patients and prevent shortages, which may require the addition of staff and resources.
- • Ensuring the ability to provide critical relief services to people affected by disasters, equipping and training volunteers and staff to safely provide food, shelter, comfort and relief supplies.
- • Investing in technology and training required to provide virtual counseling, financial assistance and other relief services.
With your help, The Salvation Army is evolving services in response to COVID-19 to meet the unique needs of each community, including drive-through food pickup and community-based food delivery. With an expected spike in requests for help over the coming weeks, months, and potentially years, ongoing public support will be needed to help ensure that low-income individuals and families have access to desperately needed resources like food and shelter, and help to recover when the threat of the virus ends. All money raised stays local to support the needs of the local community.
United Way fights for the health, education, and financial stability for every person in every community and is uniting community partners in regional fundraising efforts to support critical community needs in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Efforts include coordinating volunteers to support in-person and virtual volunteer needs of organizations that continue to provide essential services. Additionally, United Way’s 2-1-1 helpline operates 24/7 in over 200 languages and provides free, confidential referrals to essential services, and is supporting COVID-19 related questions and concerns.
