It’s estimated that more than 320-million pounds of food will be wasted this Thanksgiving.[1] Market 32 and Price Chopper are helping customers stretch their dollar even further with access to a collection of recipes that transform holiday leftovers into fresh, delicious meals like a hearty pot pie, satisfying sandwich, savory soup, and more — keeping the flavor going at a time when providing value and combatting food insecurity are top priorities.

Market 32 and Price Chopper Introduce ‘Double Exchange Day’ to Turn Pennies into Plenty
Schenectady, N.Y., November 10, 2025– As pennies fade from wallets and registers across the country, Market 32 and Price Chopper are inviting customers to turn their spare change into double the value, and to help keep cash transactions running smoothly. On Sunday, November 16, the neighborhood grocer will host a Double Exchange Day from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. at all store locations.
During this one-day event, a penny is worth two cents when shoppers exchange them for a Market 32 or Price Chopper gift card twice their total amount. This means $10 in pennies could earn a $20 gift card, redeemable toward future in-store purchases.
To participate, guests simply bring their rolled or loose pennies to the Customer Service Desk, where the total will be counted and matched with a gift card reward on the spot. Exchanges must total a minimum of 50 cents (earning a $1 card) and may not exceed $100 (earning a $200 card).
With the U.S. Treasury planning to discontinue penny production in 2026, fewer coins are being minted and even fewer are recirculating into the economy. As a result, the nation’s penny supply is shrinking, making it increasingly challenging for retailers to provide exact change for customers who prefer to pay with cash. Market 32 and Price Chopper are committed to delivering exceptional service, which includes ensuring every transaction remains smooth, seamless, and accurate.
“Cash transactions remain an important part of how we serve our customers, and for those who prefer to pay with cash, we want to make sure we can continue providing the same great checkout experience—right down to the penny,” said Blaine Bringhurst, president of Market 32 and Price Chopper. “Double Exchange Day gives our customers an opportunity to partner with us in that effort, while being rewarded for supporting us in managing our coin inventory responsibly as the nation prepares for the phase-out of pennies. We also know a lot of families across our six-state footprint are facing hardships right now, and this is another unique way our team is working to provide support.”
Double Exchange Day will also coincide with the kickoff of the grocer’s Holiday AdvantEdge Rewards Doubler on November 16, a seasonal program that helps shoppers stretch their budgets even further while earning free holiday favorites. Later this week, Market 32 and Price Chopper will unveil additional Thanksgiving promotions also launching November 16, focused on pairing abundance with affordability for families across the Northeast.
New Plush Hamsters Dressed to Impress are Scurrying into Market 32 and Price Chopper
Available for a limited time while supplies last, $3 from the sale of Gia the giraffe,
Kip the koala and Uri the unicorn will benefit Cure Rare Disease
Schenectady, N.Y. November 7, 2025 – Three new collectible plush hamsters, each dressed to delight in playful animal costumes, are available now for $10 each at all 129 Market 32 and Price Chopper locations. Perfect as affordable and adorable gifts this holiday season, these soft, huggable plush friends are sure to bring smiles to all ages. Best of all, $3 from each purchase supports Cure Rare Disease, a nonprofit biotech organization developing individualized, life-saving genetic medicines for ultra-rare conditions.
Gia, Kip, and Uri are soft and cuddly, with big personalities:
Uri adores many animals, but his favorite is the mythical unicorn. Although this magical creature hails from ancient legends, unicorns are actually the national animal of Scotland and are believed to represent grace. While hamsters and unicorns may seem worlds apart, both are considered symbols of luck in certain cultures. Uri may have never seen a unicorn in real life, but with magic, anything can happen.
On a recent adventure to Australia, Kip had his very first encounter with a koala. While hamsters are considered exotic rodents, koalas are native to Australia and belong to the marsupial family. These cuddly creatures thrive on a eucalyptus-based diet, munching through nearly two pounds of leaves each day. Although hamsters and koalas are quite different, they do share something in common: both are nocturnal, meaning they’re most active at night and love to snooze during the day!
Gia is a proud member of the rodent family, but her favorite animal is the magnificent giraffe. Found in the Sub-Saharan regions of Africa, giraffes are the tallest land animals on Earth, reaching heights of up to 18 feet; that’s close to 36 times taller than a hamster like Gia! Despite their size difference, hamsters and giraffes share a surprising similarity. Both mammals are herbivores, meaning they munch exclusively on plants and greens. Gia might be tiny, but she’s mighty, just like her long-necked idol, the giraffe!
Market 32 and Price Chopper are proud to offer fun, affordable, and meaningful ways to make the holidays brighter—and make a difference in the process. Partnering with organizations like Cure Rare Disease reflects the company’s commitment to caring for the communities it serves and helping support their overall health and well-being. A small gesture can make a big impact — one heartwarming hamster at a time.
Market 32 and Price Chopper Salute Veterans with Savings and Support
SCHENECTADY, N.Y., November 5, 2025 – This November, Market 32 and Price Chopper are honoring America’s heroes through both savings and support. On Veterans Day, the neighborhood grocer is offering an 11% discount to veterans, service members, and their families, and throughout the month, they are inviting customers to contribute to DAV (Disabled American Veterans) by rounding up their change at checkout. To deepen the impact, Market 32 and Price Chopper will match customer donations to DAV up to $10,000.
On Tuesday, November 11, all veterans, as well as retired, active-duty, reserve, and National Guard military personnel and their immediate family members, are invited to enjoy 11% off any one shopping trip with proof of service and an AdvantEdge Rewards card.
Accepted forms of proof include a Uniformed Services ID Card, Common Access Card, VA Healthcare Card, VFW or American Legion Membership Card, Veterans Advantage or Veterans Administration ID Card, DD214 Form, or a driver’s license noting veteran status.
“We have deep respect for those who have served our country and are proud to recognize their courage and commitment to protecting our freedoms,” said Blaine Bringhurst, president of Market 32 and Price Chopper. “This offer is one small way for us to thank members of our military, veterans, and their families for their service and sacrifice.”
In addition to honoring service members with savings, Market 32 and Price Chopper are once again partnering with DAV to raise funds that directly support veterans and their families. Throughout November, customers can round up their totals at checkout, with 100% of donations going to DAV.
“Market 32 and Price Chopper are honored to stand alongside our teammates and customers in supporting the men and women who have selflessly defended our nation,” said Pam Cerrone, director of community relations for Market 32 and Price Chopper. “Our partnership with DAV helps ensure that those who’ve served receive the respect, resources, and recognition they deserve.”
DAV provides lifetime, cost-free support to more than one million veterans and their families each year — from offering hundreds of thousands of free rides to medical appointments, to assisting with benefit claims, to hosting job fairs nationwide.
Together, these efforts reflect Market 32 and Price Chopper’s ongoing commitment to honoring, supporting, and serving those who have given so much for our nation.

Monster Meatloaf Recipe
1 medium onion, diced
2-3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 Tbsp olive oil
2 eggs
¾ cup milk
1.5 cups Italian breadcrumbs
2 pounds 80% lean ground beef
1 teaspoon oregano
2 teaspoons dried parsley
1 tsp paprika
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 Tbsp Worcestershire
½ cup barbecue sauce
Creature features:
One hard-boiled egg
Two green olives
Several carrots
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with foil and coat with non-stick spray, or parchment paper, then set aside.
Heat the olive oil in an 8-10” fry pan on medium. Add chopped garlic and diced onions. Stir and sauté until the onions are translucent and just browning. Remove from heat and transfer to a plate or bowl to cool slightly.
In a large bowl combine all ingredients for the meatloaf and mix with your hands, until fully combined. Be careful not to overmix. Press the meatloaf mixture into loaf (approx. 8″ long x 4″ wide) on the prepared baking sheet. Add some more barbecue sauce to the top for added flavor.
With your thumb and fingers create two depressions on the top of one side about the size of an egg each, which will become the eye sockets for your monster. Carve out an area below these depressions where the mouth will be.
Place in the oven and bake for 50-60 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees in the center.
Remove from oven and let the meatloaf rest for about 5 to 10 minutes.
Finish your creation!
Spread barbecue sauce over the top of the meatloaf (or ketchup for an especially gruesome appearance!).
Cut a few carrots into double-pointed/diamond shapes and push them into the meatloaf on the upper and lower portions of the mouth for teeth.
Peel off the shell and cut the hard-boiled egg in half. Place one half egg into each of the two eye socket depressions (with the rounded part of the egg facing out). With a paring knife, cut some egg out of the center of each half. Place the olives in these holes.
Be creative with the top of the creature’s head: add a scoop of mixed vegetables (as shown in the photo), steamed broccoli crowns, mashed potatoes, or your favorite side.
Fear not! Enjoy!

Choosing the Right Cut for National Pasta Day
Happy National Pasta Day! Today we celebrate our favorite noodles. Traditional in Italian cuisine, pasta has made its way across the globe and become a staple in pantries far and wide. With so many styles and varieties to choose from pasta can quickly become complicated. In spirit of the holiday, we decided to break down the different types of pasta and how to make sure you’re choosing the right cut.
Long Cuts: Let’s start with the long cuts. In this category we have many favorites such as, spaghetti, linguine, fettucine, and capellini. Longer pasta works well with light olive oil as well as heavy meat sauces. Bolognese sauce benefits fettucine and Mafalda, while spaghetti and linguine are complimented nicely by a lighter olive oil or tomato sauce. Capellini and angel hair pasta work with simple butter or cream sauces, as heavier options will break down these finer strands.
Short Cuts: Now onto short cuts, such as penne, rigatoni, farfalle, or orecchiette. Shorts cuts are prepared for heavier, chunky sauces. They stand up in ragus and vegetables sauces as their ridges and edges capture the flavoring. It all comes down to choosing a sauce that gets caught up in the ridges of your pasta. For example, Italian sausage crumbles fit nicely into rigatoni, while tiny vegetables get trapped in the corkscrew style of fusilli.
Soup Cuts: Finally, soup cuts like orzo, ditalini, acini di pepe, and stelline. Also known as, pastina, soup cuts range from small tubes to tiny grain-shaped noodles, perfect for scooping with a spoon. Not only are these examples delicious in soup, but they’ve evolved into popular additions in pasta salads as well as side dishes.
For more information on different pasta varieties and how to use them visit our website. Hopefully we’ve put you on the path to National Pasta Day success. We recommend giving any of these cuts a try to celebrate the occasion. For all your pasta needs, visit your local store or shop with us online.
