Price Chopper's Golub FoundationFor over 70 years, the Golub Corporation, parent company of
Price Chopper's Golub Foundation provides financial support to eligible charitable organizations with a current 501(c)(3) tax exempt status. Contributions are made through planned, continued giving programs in the areas of health and human services, arts, culture, education, and youth activities, within Price Chopper marketing areas. To be considered for funding, mail a written request, on letterhead for the organization seeking the donation, six to eight weeks prior to needed support or response deadlines. We review capital campaign requests quarterly, so please allow three to four months for a response. Letters should include the name, address, daytime phone number, and contact person of the organization. Also include the amount being requested, the population and geographic area served by the organization, and a copy of your 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status letter. Give a brief description of the specific project or event we're being asked to support and what recognition we would receive. Our Foundation Gifts Committee reviews all requests and customers are contacted with our decision. Mail to: Price Chopper's Golub Foundation, PO Box 1074, Schenectady, NY 12301. What Price Chopper's Golub Foundation FundsThrough our foundation, we contribute to non-profit organizations with a current 501(c)(3) charitable status, located within our marketing area, as defined by Price Chopper. Our six state marketing area includes a specific mile radius around our stores in New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and New Hampshire. Some of the organizations funded through Price Chopper's Golub Foundation are hospitals, ambulance services, YMCA's, YWCA's, libraries, universities, museums, and community centers. We support organizations and programs that have the potential of providing ongoing services for a large segment of our customer base. We are also a major supporter of the United Way as a way to fund community agencies. Our Foundation makes a contribution to each United Way branch within our marketing area. Corporately, our associates generously contribute through our annual fund drive. We look for family-friendly, soundly managed organizations with a mission to enhance the communities where we live and work. While we do not provide financial contributions to schools or churches, we would be happy to review requests for gift certificates for events or fundraising activities. We also offer ten scholarships to people in the communities we serve. In instances where Price Chopper may receive advertising or promotional value for a contribution, the donation will be made from our corporate fund, versus our Foundation. Corporately, we sponsor Little League teams, soccer leagues, and community events for organizations such as the American Heart Association, Junior Achievement, Alzheimer's Association, and the March of Dimes. We also provide gift certificates for events or fund-raising activities to eligible organizations such as schools, churches, and civic groups. More About GrantsWhile we hesitate to put a dollar value on our levels of giving, our contribution levels are normally smaller than larger. In our efforts to support as many organizations as possible, funding amounts are limited. Our larger grants are usually reserved for capital drives for organizations that have the potential to support a broad spectrum of our customer base, such as hospitals and universities. Due to the volume of requests we receive (we review many hundreds of requests each year), we ask for six to eight weeks before the donation is needed. For example, if you're doing a community dinner, we need to hear from you six weeks before you're planning on shopping, not from the date of the dinner. If there are advertising opportunities offered for sponsorships, we ask for a six-week lead-time before you go to press. In keeping with our philosophy to support as many organizations as possible, we ask that each group make one request per year. Your organization should decide which event or program would benefit most from our contribution and contact us at that time. Please remember that nothing is automatically repeated the following year unless we have committed to a multi-year pledge. A new request would need to be mailed each year. If you are requesting financial support, please mail the request directly to the Foundation. If your request is for a donation of product, such as for a school club or church social, this should be requested at store level. Our store managers have a discretionary budget allowing them to make small contributions of product or a gift certificate to offset the cost of your purchase directly at the store. Bring your letter of request, on letterhead for your organization, to the Price Chopper closest to your organization, four to five weeks before you would need the contribution. As we support organizations directly, we do not provide support for "third party donations." If we already support the organization for which you're raising funds, we do not provide additional donations. Many factors are included in our board's decisions to provide donations. Some of the factors we consider are our budget, any similar groups we may already be supporting, and the community impact potential for each donation. While we would like to say yes to every request we receive, it's not possible within our budget restrictions. Requests for support for parades, concerts or other town events should be directed to our Promotions Department at the address listed above. The Foundation contributes only to charitable organizations. Price Chopper's Golub Foundation Doesn't Offer Support For:
