Sandwiches and paninis are a household favorite, so much so that they’ve earned their own dedicated month! With back-to-school season approaching, we expect sandwiches to become a daily staple in many homes. We are here to bring you some delicious recipes to change up your child’s school lunches. First, let’s read some fun facts about sandwiches and paninis!

  1. The Wheat Flour Institute deemed August as National Sandwich Month in 1952.
  2. The average American child eats about 1,500 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches before they graduate high school.
  3. The most popular sandwich in America is the ham sandwich. The BLT is second.
  4. The name “sandwich” was named after John Montagu, an English nobleman from the 18th century.
  5. “Panini” means “small bread” in Italian.
  6. The precise origin of the panini is uncertain, but it is generally believed to have originated in Italy.
