It’s the 2016 Maple season! Even with the odd weather patterns that the Northeast has experienced this year, here at Ben’s Sugar Shack in Temple, NH we’ve seen a great return in the crop. Although this is hard work each year with long hours, little sleep and busy schedules, it’s all worth it when we hear from our customers how much they’re enjoying our maple syrup and products.
We’re both proud and honored to be a part of Price Chopper’s homegrown network, producing and offering a wide range of our award-winning, 100% Pure New England maple products for you. Just as with Price Chopper, we aim to not only bring the finest products to our customers, but to truly be a part of every community that we are present in.
Since the beginning, we have strived to bring our customers and retail partners, such as our friends at Price Chopper, a line of 100% pure maple products that truly stand out from the crowd. When did this commitment start? Owner Ben Fisk’s passion for making maple syrup started when he was 5 years old, visiting a maple sugar house on a field trip in preschool. It was from that point on that he knew he was going to make syrup.
After coming home from school, Ben immediately told his dad all about his experience and ideas. The very next day, he and his father got started and created their own homemade evaporator and hung only 13 sap buckets. Although that first year they only produced less than a gallon of syrup, within ten years, at age 15, Ben won the Maple Producers Carlisle Trophy for the Best Syrup in New Hampshire! Now, at age 27, Ben’s operation has grown to include two sugar houses, a wide variety of pure maple products, and a customer-focused staff.
