Market 32 and Price Chopper Customers Donate More than 2,500 Bags of Food to Support Saratoga Families and Backstretch Workers
Summer giving effort provides over 18,500 canned food items through nonprofit LifeWorks Community Action
Market 32 and Price Chopper customers came together this summer to help put food on the tables of Saratoga families and racecourse backstretch workers, purchasing and donating 2,669 bags of shelf-stable groceries to LifeWorks Community Action, an agency that works to alleviate poverty in Saratoga County and the Northern Capital Region.
The summer-long initiative gave customers an easy way to make a difference. $10 pre-packed bags filled with seven (7) canned PICS products* were available for purchase and donation at five participating Saratoga County Market 32 and Price Chopper stores. In total, customers donated 18,683 food items, which will help nourish individuals right in their local community.
“Food insecurity can affect anyone, and having access to nutritious, shelf-stable food can make a meaningful difference for families and individuals facing difficult circumstances,” said Dani Tremblay, Market 32 and Price Chopper manager of community relations. “We’re grateful to our customers for once again turning a simple act of generosity into meaningful support for people in our communities, including the backstretch workers who play such an important role in Saratoga’s racing season.”
Based in Ballston Spa, N.Y., LifeWorks Community Action distributed the donated food to local families in need and Saratoga Racecourse backstretch workers as part of its ongoing efforts to address food insecurity and support individuals and families throughout Saratoga County and the Northern Capital Region.
“At a time when so many of our neighbors are in need, it’s more important than ever for our community to come together to find solutions for food insecurity,” said Ryan Hughes, LifeWorks director of impact operations. “We appreciate the opportunity to work with Market 32 and Price Chopper to help get food to Saratoga Families in need and to backstretch workers. Programs like this make it possible for us to provide support to those who need it the most.”
Helping families access the food they need is a longstanding Market 32 and Price Chopper priority. Through customer-driven fundraising programs, food donations, and partnerships with hunger-relief organizations, Market 32 and Price Chopper work year-round to provide meaningful support to individuals and families in the communities it serves.
