We’re vocal for local and we’re proud to partner with a wide variety of farmers and producers across the Northeast! August is National Sandwich Month, and it’s also a great time of year for local produce. So, here’s your guide for creating the perfect home.grown. Sandwich using ingredients made in the Northeast.

Bread

Bread is the key piece to a good sandwich, after all it is responsible for holding everything together. Luckily, Heidelberg Bread, founded in Fly Creek, NY, is the perfect choice. Founder and Owner Easton Bissell Sr. became interested in Artisan Breads while apprenticing in some of Paris’ finest bakeries, his vision was to bring old world techniques to bread in Americas modern, fast-paced culture. To date, Heidelberg has expanded throughout the Northeast and now offers 15 delicious varieties.

Meats

In 1975, Dietz & Watson outgrew their old home and moved to their current location in Northeast Philadelphia. Here, the family honed their skills and eventually expanded the brand nationally. Despite their growth, their focus on family, quality, and integrity remained. And we’re lucky to have them in the Northeast today.

Cheeses

In 1919, 94 farm families from Cabot, Vermont formed a cooperative to ensure their livelihood. They thought that together, they would be stronger. And they were right. Today, the company is going strong, with 1,000+ employees. You can find their wide variety of delicious cheese in our dairy aisles.
