The weather outside may be getting frightful, but here in the Northeast the apples are tasty and delightful! Our home state of New York is one of the top apple growing states in the country, and we’re big on celebrating this fact. Just in time for the holidays, we’ve got a tasty treat to share that features one of the best farm products we have in our region, plus local granola and maple syrup: Check out our recipe below! Price Chopper’s home.grown. Maple Apple Crisp Ingredients 6 medium firm NYS apples, cored, sliced 1 T. lemon juice 2/3 cup PICS maple syrup, divided 1 ½ cups Gatherer’s granola ½ cup PICS chopped walnuts (optional) 1/2 cup PICS brown sugar 1 tsp. PICS cinnamon ¼ tsp. nutmeg 1/8 tsp. salt ½ cup cold PICS butter, cut into small pieces PICS vanilla ice cream (optional) Instructions Preheat oven to 375°F. Spray an 8”x 8” baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. Place sliced apples in pan, sprinkle with lemon juice and drizzle 1/3 cup maple syrup over apples, mixing gently. In a large mixing bowl, combine granola, walnuts (if using), remaining 1/3 cup maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt.  Cut in butter using pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Spread granola topping evenly over the apples, and bake for 30 minutes or until the apples are tender, and topping is golden brown. Serves 8. For best results, serve warm with vanilla ice cream! Hosting Thanksgiving doesn’t have to be stressful. Use this timeline we’ve developed as a guide to help you plan, prepare and enjoy the perfect Thanksgiving dinner!   Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours!   The weekend before:

• Shop for items that can be purchased ahead.
• Prepare and freeze anything that can be made in advance.
• Develop a food preparation schedule.

  The day before Thanksgiving:

• Purchase fresh items like vegetables.
• Set table or set up serving areas and set out serving pieces/utensils.
• Set up beverage area.
• Measure out dry stuffing ingredients, cover and set aside to mix with perishable ingredients prior to stuffing or placing in a casserole dish.

  Thanksgiving Day: Early in the day

• Post a list of food and check off so nothing is forgotten.
• Remove turkey from refrigerator, unwrap, remove giblets, and set aside if using. Place in a roasting pan and refrigerate until ready to roast.
• Pick up any prepared food. (Our stores are open until 3pm Thanksgiving Day.)

4 to 6 hours before serving

• Peel and cut up potatoes and cover with cold water until ready to cook.
• Prepare stuffing.

2 hours before serving

• Cook giblets if using.
• Plate condiments such as cranberry sauce, olives, carrots, celery and pickles.
• Add any finishing touches to make-ahead recipes.

1 hour before serving

• Remove turkey from oven and allow to rest.
• Place stuffing in oven to bake if baking in a casserole dish as advised.
• Drain potatoes, add salt and fresh water.  Cook, drain, and mash. Place in an ovenproof casserole and keep warm in oven.
• Make gravy.

15 minutes before serving

• Carve turkey.
• Bake rolls according to package directions.
• Pour beverages.
• Place condiments on table.
• Add any finishing touches to side dishes.
• Light candles.
