Mastering the Art of Indoor Grilling!

The days when the grilling season was over on Labor Day are long gone. Price Chopper’s House of Barbecue has ideas for indoor grilling that makes barbecuing year-round fun. What you need to start with are tabletop and stovetop grills that give you outdoor tastes no matter the outside weather. There are three basic indoor grill types to choose from.

Free standing tabletop grills

Closest to an outdoor gas or electric grill, are free standing tabletop grills with heating units under an open face grate.

Tabletop contact grills

Tabletop contact grills (think George Foreman) have closeable grids and work like waffle irons.

Heavy-duty grill pan skillets

Finally, you can use heavy-duty grill pan skillets with ridged bottoms for those signature grill marks.

All of these give you quick high-heat searing to seal in flavors and cooks your barbecue really fast. There’s no waiting for the coals to be ready or the need to refill the propane tank. You just preheat and start cooking. And, there’s no real mess. Just soak your cuts of meat or fish in marinades, add peppery spice rubs or splash with tangy finishing sauces.

Fish and quick cooking are a perfect pair that makes your indoor grill ideal for orange roughy or cod. Indoor grills make vegetables irresistible. Just toss them with herbs and cheese and pile them on pasta. And sliced pineapple, peaches, pears, nectarines and apples become tender morsels when grilled quickly. So, when the outdoor season is over, you can continuing great barbecuing without leaving the kitchen.
